About the Regional School
The SVVFA Regional School brings together volunteer firefighters from across Southside Virginia for a full day of hands-on training, skill development, and professional development. Courses are taught by experienced instructors and are designed to meet the needs of both new and veteran firefighters.

No non-sense training experience built on hard rural lessons and sharpened with modern urban tactics.
VDFP Chief 101
Essential leadership skills and management strategies to effectively lead a fire department.
VDFP Elevator Rescue
Mechanics of traction and hydraulic systems, lock-out/tag-out protocols, hoistway door unlocking (poling/picking), and safe passenger removal.
VDFP Machine Rescue
Teaches firefighters and rescue personnel how to safely disentangle victims trapped in industrial and mechanical equipment.
VDFP Heavy Rescue Tech
Heavy vehicle stabilization, lifting operations with heavy-duty wreckers, and victim disentanglement.
The Water Thieves Rural water
Rural water supply, advanced drafting, and large-volume hydrant operations.
